Description

The barrage at Staustufe Ingolstadt causes the Danube to widen considerably and slow down the flow speed. Here the Danube is more like a reservoir and that is ideal for some water birds to spend the winter at this place. Also there is a small island that attracts birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Gadwall, Eurasian Wigeon, Red-crested Pochard, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Common Goldeneye, Goosander and Red-breasted Merganser.
