This hike Stadtallendorf - Wasserscheide runs along the edge of the big forest of Herrenwald and also into the forest. You can see a variety of birds, especially woodpeckers. For example Red Kite, Common Raven, Common Buzzard, Eurasian Nuthatch, Common Redstart, Black Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker and Eurasian Green Woodpecker.

The area is located northwest of the village of Stadtallendorf. You can park next to the road, click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking you can make a nice hike and explore the area on foot. The circular walk (indicated on the map) is about 5 km.
