The old ponds of a former sugar factory. There is a great diversity of species, which increases even more during the migration period.
Schöppenstedter Teiche is a protected reserve with a NABU observation hide. In terms of birds, Greylag Goose, Great Egret, Grey Heron, Common Kingfisher and a large variety of songbirds are permanently present. In spring and autumn you can often see Common Crane here.
In the village of Bansleben, the reserve is already signposted. At the so-called Kuckucksmühle there is a parking lot from where a dirt road leads to the observation hide (about 900 meters). There are openings on both sides of the hide and several seating options.
