A lake beautifully embedded in nature with a small island. An observation tower offers a good all-round view of the area.
The Röggeliner See has a size of 2.24 by 1.16 kilometres. White-tailed Eagle, Osprey and, in autumn, Common Crane can regularly be seen at the lake. Great Cormorant live on the island all year round. The breeding colony is easily recognizable by the dead nest trees, whose trunks are whitewashed by the droppings of the birds. Sometimes more than 150 breeding pairs nest on the island.
Coming from Carlow, drive towards Klocksdorf. Cross Klocksdorf and after the town in approx. 150m turn right onto the path to the observation tower. There is space for some vehicles to park almost directly at the tower. Click on the P in the map for directions.
