Description

Polder Werre once was a shallow bay in the Saaler Bodden, an inland lake on the Baltic Sea. But Polder Werre, was cut off by dykes and has since been used as grassland. Polder Werre is now being renatured with a permanent overflow area. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Mali soko, Vetruška, Kobac, Eja močvarica, siva vrana, Brkata senica, Poljska eja, Čvorak, Crnoglava travarka, Konopljarka, Poljski vrabac, Zlatni vivak, Crnotrba sprutka, Srebrni vivak, Vivak, Zviždara, Vodomar, Velika bela čaplja, Labud grbac, Crni sprudnik and Velika čigra.

Access

The Saaler Bodden forms the southwestern part of the Darss-Zingst Bodden Chain and lies east of the Fischland peninsula about 30 kilometres northeast of Rostock. Polder Werre is located between the villages of Born auf dem Darß and Ahrenshoop. Parking is possible near the Regenbogen Camp campsite. Click on the P in the map for directions. You can make a circular walk of 7 km around the polder.
