Description

The Langwieser See is a small lake. The lake itself isn't very good for birding, but sometimes you can spot Common Kingfisher there. In the reed area about 100 meters east of the lake, in winter you can see for example Reed Bunting and sometimes also Water Rail. In summer it's full of Reed Warbler. West to the lake, there are nice water reservoirs, which in winter often contain Jack Snipe (best to spot with a thermal imaging camera), and sometimes Common Snipe.

South to the reservoirs, there is a smal bush land with Yellowhammer, European Goldfinch and in winter often Brambling. In the gardens and trees along the small stream you can find Eurasian Siskin in winter and Common Redstart and Greater Whitethroat in summer. Sometimes you can also hear a Common Nightingale here.

Very good are the fields around the whole area. During migration you can see Meadow Pipit, Marsh Warbler, European Stonechat (sometimes also staying over winter), Eurasian Goshawk, Northern Wheatear, Western Yellow Wagtail, Lesser Whitethroat and rarely Eurasian Wryneck, Northern Lapwing and Hen Harrier. All year round you will find Linnet, Eurasian Skylark, Grey Heron and Eurasian Kestrel. Sometimes you can also see Grey Partridge, Sparrowhawk or Peregrine Falcon.
