Description
The Hauke-Haie-Koog is an important resting and moulting area for many bird species in the Wadden Sea. Every year in spring and autumn when migrating, thousands of geese come to the Hauke-Haien-Koog to rest and moult. Large flocks of Dunlin also use this area as a high water resting place. Avocet, terns, and various songbird species such as Reed Bunting, Bearded Tit and Sedge Warbler use the Koog with its wide reed areas as a breeding area. Western Marsh Harrier, Greylag Goose, Great Bittern and various types of ducks also settle here to raise their young. After the breeding season from June to September, large groups of Eurasian Spoonbill can be observed. Among them are young and adult birds.

The observation hide can be reached directly by car because a parking lot is right next to it. You can also make a stop here by bike along the coastal cycle path.
