Lowland nature reserve of around 600 hectares. The grasslands are regularly flooded by the river Bückeburger Aue.
Bückeburger Niederung contains extensively used wet meadows and seasonal flooded grasslands along the near-natural river Bückeburger Aue. But the area also has tree rows, hedges, field shrubs and small groves as well as numerous, predominantly artificial ponds. In spring usually large areas are flooded. This attracts many birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Greater White-fronted Goose, Canada Goose, Bewick's Swan, Garganey, Northern Shoveler, Eurasian Wigeon, Northern Pintail Corn Crake, Common Crane and Northern Lapwing.
Parking on the district road from Meinsen to Nordholz. The area is best explored on foot, bicycle possible, not accessible by car. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 5 km long.
