Marais de Chizé is a small marsh close to the village of Chizé. The marsh has been restored and is very easy to visit.
Marais de Chizé is a restored marsh. The municipality decided to acquire a central parcel of the marsh, accessible from the centre of the village. The main objective of the restoration project is the rehabilitation of its natural functions (water retention zone, buffer zone, biodiversity refuge). Despite its modest surface area (about 2.5 ha), the marsh remains interesting for birds and bird watchers. Among the birds you can see here are Hønsehauk, Svartspett, Dverghornugle, Lerkefalk and Cettisanger.
Easy to explore on foot from the village of Chizé. There is an educational trail ('sentier pedagogique') through the marsh.
