Dug by the river Toulourenc, the Gorges d'Aulan are made up of steep cliffs. The canyon is home to an exceptional mountain birdlife.
The Gorges d'Aulan have been dug over millennia by the Toulourenc, a small river with turquoise waters. The vertical rocky environment is a favorable habitat for mountain species such as Griffon Vulture, Wallcreeper, Crag Martin and Peregrine Falcon. The pines inside and outside the gorge allow other birds to nest, such as the Short-toed Snake Eagle for example.
