One of the richest sites for wintering birds in Ille-et-Vilaine. The western part of the lake is a protected ornithological reserve and has a bird hide.
Etang de Châtillon en Vendelais is a lake of 2.2 kilometres long and 0.4 kilometres wide. It is home to migratory birds and ducks, and located on a migratory route. The western part of the lake is an ornithological reserve with a big bird hide. Especially in winter many ducks, grebes, cormorants, herons and gulls can be observed.

Etang de Châtillon en Vendelais is located in Ille-et-Vilaine between Vitré and Fougères, located on the Cantache. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking. From the parking it is a 500 m walk to the observatory.
