Prime site for watching flocks of Common Crane fly back to roost at Lac du Der, but also for many other waterbirds and raptors.
This is one of the (or maybe even thé) best site for observing hundreds of Common Crane in Western Europe. They tend to fly towards or from the lake in early morning and evening between November and February. Suprisingly, it's quite a scarcely visited area with only the occasional cyclist, jogger and, of course, a birder coming by.
From the village, just walk up to the Digue and find a good place to overlook the lake. Personally, I would recommend one of the vantage points as seen on the map.
Note: this is primarily a winter site, and that spring and summer are little interesting when it comes to birds. The Common Crane will be present from early November to March.
