The blue lake of Bassin du Réaltor is a settling basin of the Montricher canal. Good place to stroll and enjoy its ornithological richness.
Bassin du Réaltor near the village of Cabriès is an artificial lake with an area of about 70 hectares. The shallow lake is surrounded by abundant aquatic vegetation. The lake is of great biological value. Several species of birds nest in the area such as Great Bittern, Reed Bunting and Eurasian Hobby. It is also an important site for wintering ducks, in particular one of the main wintering areas in Provence for Common Pochard and Tufted Duck. Other birds you can encounter are Grey Heron, Red-crested Pochard, Black-necked Grebe, Little Grebe, Cetti's Warbler and Western Marsh Harrier.

Bassin du Réaltor est d'une grande valeur biologique. C'est un site d'accueil important pour les canards plongeurs venus du Nord de l'Europe. C'est en particulier l'une des principales zones d'hivernage en Provence pour les Fuligules milouins et morillons. Le bassin est utilisé comme zone de repos par les canards qui vont se nourrir la nuit sur les rives de l’Étang de Berre.
