Beautiful bay influenced by low and high tide with reeds, marshland, dunes and mudflats with a circular path through the different habitats.
In spring and fall, Anse du Galon d'Or is a good spot for Osprey. In the reeds, you can observe Zitting Cisticola and Water Rail. While in the marshland, with a bit of luck, you may see Dartford Warbler. There are also Whimbrel, Little Egret, European Stonechat and, during migration species such as Whinchat and Northern Wheatear.
In the neighboring pine trees, Pied Flycatcher and Spotted Flycatcher hunt during migration, as well as Common Redstart, Willow Warbler and other species. Tawny Pipit can be observed in the dunes. At high tide, gulls, terns and groups of limicoles come onto the beach. Note that you have to take a different route along the inside of the bay at high tide. See a link to the tide table below.
Anse du Galon d'Or is located west of the town of Ronce-les-Bains. You can park on the Parking du Galon d'Or. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. There is also a beautiful cycle path (Parcours Vélo N°4) through the forest (forêt domaniale de la Coubre). The circular route shown on the map is about 2 km.
