Description

A simple car ferry brings you from the busy streets of Cairo to Geziret al Dahab, a peaceful village atmosphere with green fields and trees. You can see several species of birds and get right down to the water. Among the birds you can encounter are Squacco Heron, Grey Heron, Little Egret, Great Egret, Zitting Cisticola, Common Kingfisher, White-throated Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Glossy Ibis, Black-winged Kite, Little Grebe, Spur-winged Lapwing, Purple Swamphen, Purple Heron and Blue-cheeked Bee-eater.

Access

Take the car ferry from Dar es Salaam-area and then walk around. Please respect the locals. Be prepared for farming practises like burnings rubbish, garbage heaps and dirt roads. Also, some dogs' carcasses in the river. Still, a genuine and unique experience!
