Description
Østerådalen Nord is easy to get to, easy to get around and with good opportunities to see the birds up close. The different nature types provide plenty of opportunity to experience a diverse palette of birds. In the so-called 'bird lakes' at the southern end, various ducks and grebes roost. In the surrounding reed forests, Reed Bunting and Sedge Warbler can be seen, and if you're lucky, Bearded Tit and Bluethroat. The nearby meadows occasionally offer waders under the right conditions. Northern Lapwing breeds in the area.
In the late evening hours, Common Starling , Magpie and crows gather for the night, and Great Bittern and Water Rail call from the reeds. Little Grebe and Common Kingfisher can be seen in the stream. In the winter, the site is a good place for Water Pipit.
