Elongated peninsula with good birdwatching opportunities on the narrow stretch.
On the peninsula of Enebærodde you pass deciduous forest and spruce forest planted in the 19th century, and you see Funen's largest heathland with heather and juniper bushes that have given the headland its name. Towards Odense Fjord there are bird sanctuaries. You also see Galloway cattle grazing on the headland. There is a large population of vipers on Enebærodde, and they sunbathe in the sand. Among the birds you can encounter are Sandwich Tern, Common Tern, Arctic Tern, Common Eider, Common Goldeneye, Red-breasted Merganser, European Golden Plover, Eurasian Curlew, Dunlin, Common Ringed Plover, Eurasian Oystercatcher and Bar-tailed Godwit. But many more, see the birdlist below.
There is a parking lot at Halshusene. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Cars are not allowed on the headland, go on foot or by bicycle. The circular walk shown on the map to the end of the peninsula is about 12 km long.
