Goritsa Forest is a place with easy access and is a nice woodland on a almost flat terrain, where Balia caucasica breeds. Presence of standing and fallen dead wood provides excellent conditions for Picchio rosso mezzano, Picchio rosso minore, Picchio rosso maggiore, Picchio cenerino, Picchio verde and Picchio nero, but also Luì verde, Codirosso and Prispolone. The site is situated on the migratory flyway of storks, pelicans and birds of prey which can be observed from some of the open areas around.
