The area is a mixture of reedbeds, extensive and intensive agriculture. In the future there will possible be new nature development in the area.
The area is the last stronghold of European Turtle Dove in the region. Every year there still are 5-6 territoria. Besides the European Turtle Dove the region is nice for reedbirds with Bearded Tit and Savi's Warbler as most important ones. Black-tailed Godwit and Eurasian Curlew are still surviving with some couples in the wetlands but are declining. Hopefully the future will bring bigger areas under nature conservation, it is urgently necessary. In winter it is a relevant staging area for geese, mostly Greater White-fronted Goose but every winter there are some Pink-footed Goose present.

On most places you can park the car wherever you want and start walking. The tour itself is best done on foot or by bike if you don't bother cycling on dirtroads.
