Description
Only 15 km from Innsbruck, the Inzinger Gaisau is one of the last floodplains in the Inn Valley. It has ponds, woodlands, agricultural fields, wet meadows, reedbeds and borders the shores of the river Inn. This makes Inzinger Gaisau rich in habitats and therefore rich in birds.
Birds you can see here are Fieldfare, Willow Warbler, Goosander, Common Kingfisher, Green Sandpiper, Icterine Warbler Blackcap, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and both Eurasian Treecreeper and Short-toed Treecreeper and many species of tits. In winter sometimes you can encounter large flocks of European Goldfinch, Eurasian Siskin, and in late winter Brambling.
On the northern waters edge you have a good view on meadows and reedbeds. You can find Whinchat here and with some luck Black Kite. On the pond you can see Little Grebe and different kinds of ducks. Around the reedbeds check for Water Rail, Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Great Reed Warbler and Sedge Warbler.
