A birding oasis in the midst of intensive agricultural land.
Krummi is one of the many interesting birding spots in the Grosses Moos Important Bird Area (IBA). The Grosses Moos wetland was drained giving way to a rich structured agricultural and cultural landscape. The fields are on a major migratory passageway and attract a great number of bird species especially in Autumn and Spring. Krümmi consists of a small wetland and extensively managed meadow and is surrounded by hedges and treelines that offer structure to the landscape. These landscape elements are the refuge for some farmland species that are now rare in Switzerland, such as the Просянка. It also offers refuge to less rare but vulnerable species such as Обыкновенный жулан , Южный соловей , Обыкновенная овсянка and Серая славка. The small wetland is the breeding ground for Обыкновенный зимородок , Тростниковая камышевка , Дроздовидная камышевка. On passage Бекас , Фифи , Большой улит , Перевозчик , and Турухтан make a stopover. Rarer waders such as Белохвостый песочник can also be expected.
The entire farmland area around Krümmi is worth exploring and regulary produces scarce surprises, including: Кобчик , Золотистая щурка , Луговой лунь , Хрустан. In the recent years the area has produced some raritioes including: Чернокрылый дымчатый коршун , Авдотка , Зарничка.
There is a small car park. As the area is a small refuge for birds and other wildlife, it is absolutely essential not to leave the paths in order to avoid disturbance.
