Description

The RSPB formed in 1889 as the Society for the Protection of Birds went on to receive a royal charter in 1904, today being the largest nature conservation charity in Europe with over 1 million members. The Lodge Nature Reserve has areas of formal gardens, woodland, heathland and grassland. The reserve is open every day of the year (including over Christmas) from dawn to dusk. The car park (Fee Payable to non RSPB members) is open from 0700-1900hrs daily. NOTE this site can get extremely busy, especially at weekends, a visit during weekdays early in the day is best. Depending on season some birds you can expect are Pic épeichette, Faucon hobereau, Engoulevent d'Europe, Gobemouche gris, Bécasse des bois, Roitelet triple-bandeau, Pipit des arbres, Hirondelle de rivage and possible Tourterelle des bois. Be sure to check bird feeders in the car park.
