Description

Lake Lynn is well known in the local birding community as an excellent place to see migratory warblers in the spring and fall, including Black-and-white Warbler, Magnolia Warbler and Northern Parula. The lake itself often hosts Mallard and Great Blue Heron as well as Belted Kingfisher, Killdeer and Canada Goose. Woodpeckers are quite common in the surrounding forests, including Downy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, which appear in the wintertime. Winters are mild but cool enough to host White-throated Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco. The 4.5 km trail looping the lake passes alongside small groves of trees and an artifical lake, and is well worth the detour, especially in the morning.
