Description
Tucked away in Leicestershire, the Reedbed Nature Reserve at Watermead Country Park consists of four hides, one of which looks over the fabulous Wanlip Meadows. In winter, Пастушок and with a little bit of luck Бугай водяний can be seen stalking in the extensive reedbeds there. Чечітка звичайна, various Tits and Чиж лісовий will visit the feeders from the Kingfisher Hide. Рибалочка блакитний can also be viewed from most of the hides.
Spring announces the arrival of waders and the marshier area of the River Soar, viewed from the Plover Hide is great for Баранець звичайний and Коловодник звичайний. Other waders such as Побережник чорногрудий, Кульон великий and Кулик-сорока can also be seen around the reserve. Крячок річковий, Ластівка берегова, Ластівка міська, Ластівка сільська and Серпокрилець чорний all fly around the reserve in spring and summer, with the Ластівка берегова nesting in the bank for them. Autumn is quite an interesting month for migration for more waders such as Коловодник великий, Коловодник лісовий, Набережник палеарктичний, Чоботар синьоногий and Пісочник малий can be viewed from around the reserve.

Park at either the Fingers Lake car park at Watermead or the Reedbed car park and access the four gates to the Reedbed Nature Reserve from there.
