Description

Martin Mere is a Site of Special Interest. The name of the centre comes from the mere on the west side of the reserve, which is ringed by more than ten observation hides. This reserve is at its best in winter, attracting huge flocks of Гуменник короткодзьобий, Свищ євразійський and Чирянка мала, many Лебідь-кликун, and occasional rarer birds such as Гуска біла, Свищ американський and Green-winged Teal. It is also excellent for wintering birds of prey such as Лунь польовий, Сапсан and Підсоколик малий. Waders such as Грицик великий, Брижач and Коловодник звичайний can be seen from hides as well as rarer smaller birds such as В’юрок in the woodlands.
