Headland with cliffs and rocky beach, good for migration watch and seawatch. Here the Severn estuary ends and the Bristol Channel begins.
Lavernock Point usual seawatch species eg Кулик-сорока, Синьга, Сула атлантична, Буревісник кочівний, Поморник великий, petrels, Мартин трипалий, Сапсан, Мартин середземноморський and terns. Breeding species include Кропив’янка сіра, Кропив’янка чорноголова and Щеврик острівний. Migrating flocks of Дрізд білобровий, Чикотень, Коноплянка, waders, Щиглик звичайний and 1,000s of Припутень. The beach is good for triassic and jurassic fossils such as ammonites, giant oysters, bones and teeth of marine reptiles. The sea here has a high tidal range and sweeps in very quickly. Check tide times (see the link below) before venturing to the shoreline and avoid overhanging cliffs.
From M4 junction 33 go south on A4232, then right at first interchange on A4060, continue past Barry and through Sully village. Sign to Lavernock on right 2 miles further on.
