in Horsey Mere freshwater, marsh and sea birds can be seen (there is a sea beach with seal viewpoint nearby). Look for Пастушок, Лиска звичайна, Пірникоза велика, Бугай водяний, egrets, Лунь очеретяний, Брижач, Журавель сірий, Косар білий, Очеретянка середземноморська, Сутора вусата, або синиця вусата, Очеретянка лучна, Очеретянка ставкова, Вівсянка очеретяна and Чоботар синьоногий. Коловодник чорний, Пуночка снігова, Казарка чорна and Подорожник лапландський may appear in winter.
Reeds are cut for thatch from December to April and Сутора вусата, або синиця вусата often feed in the resulting stubble.

Access
Horsey is 15 miles north of Great Yarmouth, via Caister and Winterton. It is 22 miles northeast of Norwich. Drive east on A47 then left in Acle and continue through Clippesby and Martham. Nearest rail station is Acle, ten miles away. Nearest bus stop, Somerton, 2 miles.
Access by yacht or motor boat via Hickling Broad and River Thurne. Access restricted in winter to protect wildfowl from disturbance. Ross's boat trips offer one hour wildlife cruises from Horsey. See NT link below.
