Fairlop Waters is the largest country park in Redbridge and has a wide diversity of habitats like grassland, woodland, ponds, and lakes. The large boating lake has Казарка канадська, Лиска звичайна and Чайка чубата. A nesting habitat has been created on the main island for birds. Around the smaller fishing lake Пірникоза велика, Лебідь-шипун and sometimes Набережник палеарктичний can be observed.
The surrounding area is a mix of open scrub with some thick areas of shrubs and trees which attract Кропив’янка сіра, Кропив’янка прудка and Кропив’янка чорноголова. To south of the main complex and golf course is a small fenced off nature reserve. Birds that you can spot in the area all year round include Зелений дятел, Жайворонок польовий, Чапля сіра, Сич хатній, Вівсянка очеретяна and Щеврик лучний among others. Some winter visitors are Золотомушка жовточуба, Попелюх звичайний, Широконіска північна and Чернь чубата.
Fairlop Waters Country Park in Redbridge is easily accessible from the M25, via the A12. There are several options for parking. Click on a P in the map for directions. Public transport: Fairlop Waters is a short walk from Fairlop and Barkingside stations, both on the Central Line. Opening Times: Monday - Thursday: 7.00am - 11.00pm, Friday & Saturday: 7.00am - Midnight, Sunday: 7.00am - 10.30pm. There are accessible pathways, as well as a network of natural routes.
