A very well connected and touristically equipped lake with a small nature reserve (fen, raised bog). Breeding area of Чернь чубата and Кропив’янка прудка.
The Heidsee is a picturesque area in a unique mountain setting. In contrast to many other mountain lakes, there is some reedbed here and corresponding water birds (breeding area for Чернь чубата, Пірникоза мала, Лиска звичайна and Попелюх звичайний). Species of the alpine coniferous forests can be observed in the tree groups (Чорна синиця, Синиця чубата, Горіхівка крапчаста, Снігур звичайний). Highlights include the Кропив’янка прудка, Набережник палеарктичний, Чечітка мала, and Горихвістка звичайна. The lake does not appear to be frequently observed during the migration periods, so there could be a few surprises in addition to the 106 species that have been observed here so far.
The Heidsee can be easily reached by public transport (Postbus from Chur in the direction of Lenzerheide to Valbella). Press P on the map for directions to a parking. The well-developed hiking trail around the lake (about 3,5 km) also leads to several small islands with barbecue areas. The area is heavily frequented by tourists. A visit is particularly worthwhile early in the morning in late spring, summer and early autumn.
