Description
From August to October, numerous thermal gliding birds can be observed passing through the skies around Gurten. The best time is late August and early September. Then large numbers of Осоїд євразійський are possible. With a bit of luck, Лелека чорний will also pass by. Other regular species are: Канюк звичайний, Яструб малий, Яструб великий, Боривітер звичайний, Підсоколик великий, Шуліка рудий, Шуліка чорний, Скопа, Лунь лучний, Лунь очеретяний and Лелека білий. In later autumn large flocks of Припутень pass by. From time to time Серпокрилець білочеревий can be observed on food flights.

Access
The Gurten hill is located directly south of Bern city center. The best way is to take the Gurtenbahn funicular that runs from the city to the Gurten. From there it is only a 10 minutes walk to the viewing and observation point.
