Description
Ljusfors lies in the northern part of Östgötaslätten, a large Swedish plain. It is surrounded by large amounts of forest. The coastal meadows are often visited by flocks of Чернь чубата, Мартин сивий, Мартин сріблястий, Мартин морський, Мартин звичайний, Гоголь зеленоголовий, Крижень, Лебідь-шипун, Лебідь-кликун, Лиска звичайна, Крех великий (some times up to 500) Чапля сіра and Баклан великий in the open not frozen parts of the lake. Smaller amounts of rarer wintering waterfowl like Пірникоза мала, Крех середній, Крех малий, Пірникоза велика, and Рибалочка блакитний.
In the oak meadows tits, woodpeckers, finches winter along with common winter birds like Снігур звичайний, Омелюх звичайний, Чечітка звичайна, and В’юрок. On the fields geese and swans can be found. Гуска сіра, Казарка канадська, and Гуменник have all been sighted.
During spring and autumn the coastal meadows are filled with large amounts of gulls, waders, passerine birds and terns. Коловодник болотяний, Коловодник звичайний, Набережник палеарктичний, Чайка чубата, Брижач, Баранець звичайний, Пісочник малий, and Кульон великий are all observed although there are often not many wadingbirds.
During spring rains hundreds of Крячок річковий and Мартин звичайний could be forced on the lake. Along with smaller amounts of Мартин сріблястий, Мартин сивий, Мартин морський and Крячок полярний.
In the spring and summer large amounts of passerine birds can be heard in the forests. Although mostly common birds can be found, also rarer birds like Мухоловка мала, Дятел малий and Костогриз can be observed.
On the islands Очеретянка велика, Мартин звичайний (large colony), Чернь чубата, Нерозень, Казарка білощока, Гуска сіра, Коловодник звичайний and Баклан великий likely breed. Common passerines on the coastal meadows are Чечітка гірська (rare and only during the migration), Коноплянка, Жовта плиска, Щиглик звичайний, Щеврик лучний and Жайворонок польовий.
Many species of dabbling ducks can also be found during this season like Чирянка мала, Свищ євразійський, Нерозень, Широконіска північна, and Чирянка велика. Along the river Плиска гірська and Рибалочка блакитний breed, and Пронурок біловолий can be found.

Access
There are 2 parking spots and 2 nature reserves at the river mouth, one at each side of the river. There is a parking spot and trail at both reserves. At ljusfors naturreservat the trail goes up on a large hill which is perfect for viewing the area. Click on a P in the map for directions.
