Description

Horns kungsgård is a hidden nature reserve but worth a visit because of its beautiful old trees. These old trees are a great place for birds to breed. A pleasant area to go for a picnic or a walk and do some light-weight birdwatching. There is a birdtower that looks over some reed beds and part of the lake. Birds found here are typical Öland forest birds like Мухоловка білошия, Горихвістка звичайна, Щеврик лісовий and Костогриз to mention a few.

Beware of the cows that live in the reserve. They are used to visitors but it is still best to avoid them.

Access

Horns kungsgård is reached by following the main Öland road 136 north until you reach Löttorp. Third exit on the roundabout. Around 2,5 km after you pass Löttorp you take the exit to the right and follow that road for another 3,5 km. Beware that there is a very low speed limit along this road that you have to keep in order to not scare the cows and make the farmers angry. Eventually you will reach a parking area to your right. For directions click on the P on map below.

From the parking area it is about 1 km of walking over open terrain until you reach the forest and lake area.
