Description

Arriesjön is well worth a visit if you're looking for something accessible with good variety. The lake is usually well populated by ducks, geese, gulls and grebes. Пірникоза велика commonly breeds here, as well as Пірникоза сірощока. Some years the small islands in the lake is colonized by Мартин звичайний and with a bit of luck you can spot a Мартин середземноморський (one of very few confirmed nests in Sweden of the species was in Arriesjön).

The surrounding trees and bushes offers a wide selection of warblers during spring/summer, some days it takes almost cacophnous proportions where it's hard to tell what's what. It's also a good spot for woodpeckers all year round, most commonly Дятел звичайний, but Дятел малий, Жовна чорна, and Зелений дятел are seen regularly as well. In terms of raptors, most of the common breeding species in Sweden are possible to spot, depending on the time of year.

It's quite a small area, with a number of accessible trails, and there are two parking spots. There are also two platforms, but honestly the best way to approach this spot is by taking a hike around the lake, and make a few stops on the way if you brought your spotting scope.

Access

There are two parking spots, one in the north end (Gavelsbjärsvägen), and one in the south (Krusebergsvägen). From Malmö, take road 101 to the south until you reach Arrie. Right before the Qstar gas station, make a left, and then left again to reach the north parking, or continue down the road to reach the south parking. There are signs that marks the exact location from there on either way.
