Explore the birdlife around and on top of this old volcano on the northern point of Fuerteventura.
It is recommended to walk to Volcanes de Bayuyo from Corralejo as it is within walking distance and you have a better chance of finding birds flying overhead or jumping around on the ground than going by bike or car. From the road you can see far and wide and can easily detect birds like Стерв’ятник білий, Крук звичайний and Канюк звичайний. Снігар туркменський, Щеврик архипелаговий and Сірий (Великий) сорокопуд are abundant. Although very rare there is a chance to see Трав’янка канарська if you scout the bushes carefully. Most birds here are resident breeders and can be found year round.
The map down below shows how to walk to Bayuyo from Corralejo as well as where birds have been observed and the parking spot, if going by car. There are other hiking trails around the volcano that are not marked on the map. If you dare you can walk up the volcano which gives extraordinary views. Although not a bird, Barbary squirrels are abundant around the volcano and are not affraid to get close.
Volcanes de Bayuyo is reached easiest by car or bike from both Corralejo and Lajares, see "P" in map below for coordinates. But the best way to explore this location is on foot as birds are hard to detect otherwise. As said previously it is in good walking distance from Corralejo. Drive slowly and carefully as the road to Bayuyo is not asphalted and both hikers and bikers traverse on this road a lot.
