Description
Just outside the village of Vegas Altas extensive rice fields start. The fields receive important winter concentrations of Журавель сірий and several species of waders like Грицик великий, Пісочник великий, Ходулoчник, Сивка звичайна, Побережник малий, Коловодник великий, Брижач, Побережник чорногрудий, Набережник палеарктичний, Коловодник лісовий, Баранець звичайний and Коловодник болотяний. During the migratory passages, you can also see other wintering birds such as Синьошийка, Щеврик гірський or Вівсянка очеретяна. Other birds you can spot in the area are сорокопуд південний, Бенгалик червоний, Астрильд смугастий and Одуд. Also many wintering birds of prey (sometimes in high densities) like Лунь очеретяний, Лунь польовий, Шуліка рудий, Шуліка чорноплечий, Підсоколик малий and Сова болотяна. Best times for a visit are winter and spring, from November to May. From June to October it can be very quiet on the fields.
