The entire walk along the banks of the Arlanzón river as it passes through Burgos allows you to observe a good number of water species related to the course of the rivers, especially in the most naturalized area of the riverbank in the surroundings of Fuentes Blancas. It is a pleasant walk that can easily be adapted to the time available. The most numerous species is the Крижень, but it is also easy to find Баклан великий, Чапля сіра. They are often accompanied by Плиска біла, Плиска гірська and other birds. It is easy to spot Лиска звичайна as well, and the lucky ones will be able to enjoy a specimen of Мандаринка of uncertain origin or even Рибалочка блакитний. At nightfall, it is also common to see small bats flying over the river in search of insects.
Going up the left bank of the river and leaving the urban beach behind on the other side, you can find some observation posts on the river bank entering the riverside vegetation. Its state of conservation is quite bad, it must be said, but there is no problem in finding other natural observation posts. Higher up is the Fuentes Blancas Wetland route, belonging to the set of routes in the Green Belt of Burgos. Although there are a couple of purpose built observatories, they are not particularly well situated. The route is pleasant and has some shade, but it is not particularly conducive to bird watching, or at least no more than any other stretch of river further down.

Todo el paseo de la orilla del río Arlanzón a su paso por Burgos permite observar un buen número de especies de aguas relacionadas con el curso de los ríos, especialmente en la zona más naturalizada de la ribera en el entorno de Fuentes Blancas. Es un paseo agradable que puede adaptarse fácilmente al tiempo disponible. La especie más numerosa es el Крижень, pero también es fácil encontrar algún Баклан великий, alguna Чапля сіра o algún Баклан великий. Los acompañan a menudo lavanderas de diferentes especies, siendo la Плиска біла la más numerosa. Con un poco de suerte y paciencia, es fácil avistar también Лиска звичайна, y los más afortunados podrán disfrutar de algún ejemplar de Мандаринка de procedencia incierta o hasta de algún Рибалочка блакитний. Al caer la noche, también es habitual ver pequeños murciélagos sobrevolando el río en busca de insectos.
Ascendiendo por la margen izquierda del río y dejando atrás la playa urbana al otro lado, se pueden encontrar algunos puestos de observación en la orilla del río adentrándose entre la vegetación de ribera. Su estado de conservación es bastante malo, todo hay que decirlo, pero no hay problema en encontrar otros puestos de observación naturales. Más arriba se encuentra la ruta del Humedal de Fuentes Blancas, perteneciente al conjunto de rutas del Cinturón Verde de Burgos. A pesar de que hay un par de observatorios construidos al efecto, no están particularmente bien situados. La ruta es agradable y tiene algo de sombra, pero no es especialmente propicia para la observación de aves, o al menos no más que cualquier otro tramo del río más abajo.

The river crosses the city in its entire length, so it is easy to access the riverbank at almost any point in it. There is also a cycle path that runs in parallel and that runs through the entire natural environment of Fuentes Blancas. The route that is suggested on the Birdingplaces-map below is about 3 km.
