The natural park of the headwaters of Ter i del Freser, located at 2000 meter is a great place for birding. It's only accessible by rack railway or by walking.
El Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser has a great diversity of landscapes. This corner of the Pyrenees has a distribution of the vegetation in the different mountain stages. This variety in habitats ensures a great ornithological variety. From Ягнятник, Сип білоголовий to many raptors and from Куріпка тундрова to Шишкар ялиновий, Пронурок біловолий, Кам’янка звичайна, Вівсянка гірська and many more.
Access can be done by car from any point or using the R3 train line (RENFE) from Barcelona, to Ribes de Freser(Girona). In Ribes de Freser you have to take the rack railway to access the Natural Park at the Ribes EnllaÇ or Ribes Vila stations.
Another way to access the park is by car to Queralbs and taking the rack railway at Queralbs station or using the path that leaves from Queralbs walking 7 km.
There is a hotel with rooms and apartments in the natural park and different eating establishments. You can take a day visit, but it is really worth staying the night to take all the profit. In the link there is much more information about the prices of the train and accommodation.
Chamois and marmots also live in the area. In summer there are usually cows in the area since it has been a shepherd area for a long time.
The area is closed in november.
