Description

This artificial lagoon is located at an altitude of 1417 meters, covered with a pine forest and, prior to it, some pastures were, in ancient times, shepherds would take their cattle for seasonal grazzing. Nowadays, the access is quite good and, adding to the peace of the location, is a very interesting area for birdwatching due to its prime location and habitat. It is one of the best places to observe birds in the Serra da Estrela natural park.

Portugues: Esta lagoa artificial está localizada a uma altitude de 1417 metros, rodeada por uma floresta de pinheiros. Anteriormente, a área era composta por pastagens onde, antigamente, os pastores levavam o gado para pastoreio sazonal. Atualmente, o acesso é bastante bom e, juntamente com a tranquilidade do local, torna-se uma área muito interessante para a observação de aves devido à sua localização privilegiada e habitat. É um dos principais locais para observar aves no parque natural.

Access

Traveling from the city of Gouveia, take the N232 to Serra da Estrela, direction Penhas Douradas. Just before the Ti Branquinho cheese stand, take the right on the sign 'Vale Rossim'. Continue all the way until you find the lagoon. Press P on the map for directions.
