Description
The "Tichelgaten" is a fairly small natural area near the village of Buren and consists of several small ponds, reedbeds, pastures and small forested areas. Once, this area has been excavated for clay and has been turned into a small natural area since. The area is a good spot for many species of common songbird, woodpecker and small numbers of waterbirds. Frequently sighted species are Зелений дятел, Кропив’янка чорноголова and Мухоловка сіра. The small ponds and reedbeds are a great spot for Очеретянка ставкова, Пірникоза мала and Рибалочка блакитний. The small forested area in the west provides good habitat for woodpeckers, like Дятел звичайний and sometimes Дятел малий. Scarcer species that can be found here are Вивільга звичайна, Очеретянка середземноморська, Костогриз and Соловейко західний.
On the northern side of the road, the biggest pond is located and provides a great spot for many species of waterbird. In winter, fairly large numbers of Чернь чубата and Нерозень can be found here. Sometimes, scarcer species like Крех великий and Попелюх звичайний might show up.
