Description
The island of Sophiapolder is located in the middle of the tidal river De Noord. A marshy delta area with freshwater tides. You can only get there with a small ferry and can make a walk of 2.5 kilometers. This area of sandbanks and creeks is constantly changing under the influence of the tide. In the middle of the island and in the middle of the mud flats is a bird hide. The nutrient-rich mud flats of 77 hectares act as a magnet for birds such as Чоботар синьоногий, Коловодник звичайний, Галагаз євразійський and Коловодник великий. Nederlands: Midden in de getijdenrivier De Noord ligt het natuureiland Sophiapolder. Een moerasachtig deltagebied met zoetwatergetijden bij Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Je kan er alleen met een voetveer komen voor een wandeling van 2,5 kilometer over vlonders en dijken. Dit gebied met zandplaten en kreken verandert voortdurend onder de invloed van het getij. Midden op het eiland en midden in het slik staat een vogelkijkhut. De voedselrijke slikplaten van 77 hectare werken als een magneet op vogels als Чоботар синьоногий, Коловодник звичайний, Галагаз євразійський en Коловодник великий. Access
You can park at Veersedijk 301 in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Or take bus 88, stop Laan van Walburg, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, from the bus stop it is a 10-minute walk. To get to the island itself, you have to take the free ferry. The crossing takes 5 to 10 minutes. See the link below for more information to reserve the ferry. Please note: There is no ferry service from November to February.

Nederlands: Parkeren kan bij Veersedijk 301 in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Of neem bus 88, halte Laan van Walburg, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, vanaf de bushalte is het nog ruim 10 minuten lopen. Om op het eiland zelf te komen, zetten de vrijwillige schippers van het Zuid-Hollands Landschap je over met een voetveer. De overtocht duurt 5 à 10 minuten. Zie de link beneden voor meer informatie voor reserveren van het voetveer. Let op: Van november tot en met februari is er geen veerdienst.
