The Groesplaat is a channel of 1500 meters long and 30 to 40 meters wide. This channel now forms the heart of the Groesplaat nature reserve. It is a so-called "co-flowing secondary channel": at high tide, the Merwede river can dispose of its excess water and flows with it. From birdwatching hide "t Vinkennestje" you can observe Грицик великий, Коловодник звичайний, Чайка чубата, Кульон великий, Баклан великий and many more birds. Large numbers of waders and geese during migration.

You can park at the bird hide. Click on the P in the map for directions. There are two marked hiking trails. Walking route Groesplaat (3.2 km) and Walking route 't Gors (1 km).
