Cape Ghir is a rocky promontory which is located about forty kilometers northwest of Agadir. The cape is excellent for seawatching.
Cape Ghir is one of the westernmost points on the Moroccan coast. Therefore, this is an excellent place to watch the bird migration at sea. The rocky promontory is easily recognizable by the lighthouse that you see from afar. Among the birds you can observe are Сула атлантична, Буревісник cередземноморський, Balearic Shearwater, Гагарка мала, Поморник короткохвостий, Поморник великий, Крячок рябодзьобий, Кульон середній, Крячок бенгальський, Мартин скельний and Мартин сіроногий. Also Ібіс-лисоголов мароканський can fly by. Western winds bring most birds. A spotting scope is necessary for good observations.
Cape Ghir is located about forty kilometers northwest of Agadir along the coastal road. You can park on the fields a little south of the lighthouse (click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates). From there you can explore the area around the lighthouse on foot and find the best viewpoint for your spotting scope.
