The village of Lapmezciems is located in a great area for birding. The west side of the village borders directly on the birdrich Lake Kanieris (described in a separate entry on Birdingplaces), the east side of Lapmezciems is on the Gulf of Riga. In the direct surroundings of the village you can see birds like Чепура велика, Лебідь-шипун, Орлан-білохвіст, Галагаз євразійський, Пухівка зеленошия, Турпан, Морянка, Рибалочка блакитний, Лелека чорний and Мартин морський.
