Description
The Valli di Comacchio represents one of the most important lagoons in Italy and is part of the Po Delta. The area extends for more than 11,000 hectares. Formed from brackish water the salinity is very strong. The Fossa di Porto is one of the principal basins of the Valli di Comacchio and located on the west side of the lagoon (For other parts of the Valli di Comacchio see separate entries on Birdingplaces). Among the birds you can observe are Лебідь-шипун, Галагаз євразійський, Чоботар синьоногий, Фламінго, Пірникоза мала, Пірникоза чорношия, Журавель сірий, Гоголь зеленоголовий, Коловодник великий, Коловодник чорний, Набережник палеарктичний, Лунь очеретяний, Баклан малий and Мала біла чапля.

Italiano: Le Valli di Comacchio sono il vero museo e rappresentano uno dei più importanti complessi lagunari esistenti in Italia ed in Europa. Si estendono nelle province di Ferrara e in parte di Ravenna, per più di 11.000 ettari, tra Comacchio e il fiume Reno, e sono collegate al mare tramite i canali di Magnavacca, Logonovo, Bellocchio e Gobbino. Formate da acqua salmastra dalla salinità molto accentuata: rappresentano un importante biotopo di zona umida ad acqua salmastra, costituito da vegetazione estrema alofila e dichiarato di interesse internazionale, in base alla convenzione di Ramsar del 1971.

Access
There is a road parallel to the western side of the lagoon and from the road you have an excellent view of the lagoon and the canal that runs along the road. You can travel the 9 km road by car or bicycle. Walking the road is not recommended. You can park your car at various places along the road. Click on a P in the map for directions. The birds can be far away, so a telescope is recommended. Note that in the summer months far less birds are present.

Italiano: C'è una strada parallela al lato occidentale della laguna e dalla strada si ha un'ottima vista della laguna e del canale che costeggia la strada. Puoi percorrere la strada di 9 km in auto o in bicicletta. Non è consigliabile camminare per strada. È possibile parcheggiare l'auto in vari punti lungo la strada. Clicca su una P nella mappa per le indicazioni stradali. Gli uccelli possono essere lontani, quindi si consiglia un telescopio. Si noti che nei mesi estivi sono presenti molti meno uccelli.
