Description
Lago Matese is a beautiful alpine lake situated in the Matese Regional Park. The lake covers a surface area of 5 square kilometres and is 15 metres deep at its deepest point. It stands at an elevation of 1,011 metres above sea level. The lake attracts many ducks and is a rest and feeding area for many birds during migration. Among the birds you can encounter are Чирянка велика, Чирянка мала, Чернь білоока, Пірникоза мала, Горлиця звичайна, Зозуля звичайна, Журавель сірий, Ходулoчник, Коловодник великий, Коловодник болотяний, Бугай водяний, Бугайчик, Чапля руда, Чапля жовта, Квак звичайний, Коровайка бура, Косар білий, Осоїд євразійський, Змієїд блакитноногий, Беркут, Лунь очеретяний, Шуліка рудий, Шуліка чорний, Сплюшка євразійська, Одуд, Сорокопуд терновий, Клушиця and Крук звичайний.

Access
Lago Matese is situated in the Matese Regional Park, within the Province of Caserta. The lake can be reached by car. There is a road that runs along the entire perimeter but best option is to park and explore the banks on foot. Click on the P in the map for directions.
