Description
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Чечітка звичайна, Дрізд білобровий and Кропивник. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like Зяблик звичайний, В’юрок and Снігур звичайний have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Куріпка тундрова. The area is also used as hunting ground by Кречет.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Гоголь ісландський, Чернь морська, Плавунець круглодзьобий, Крех середній and Морянка.
