Mt Hymettus is a great birding place, very close to the city center of Athens with several species to enjoy such as Кропив’янка рюпеля, Кам’янка іспанська, Кеклик кремовогорлий, Канюк степовий and Мухоловка мала . Different habitats (scattered forest, olive groves, makia vegetation, rocky slopes) provide excellent habitat for a variety of birds, basically passerines.

Walk around Kesariani Monastery to see Мухоловка мала in fall, also breeding Сіра сова, Вівсянка городня, Кропив’янка середземноморська, Золотомушка червоночуба, Ополовник звичайний, або синиця довгохвоста and Сплюшка євразійська. Drive up the summit in spring and explore the surrounding paths for Кропив’янка рюпеля, Кропив'янка червоновола, Кам’янка іспанська, Скеляр синій, Повзик скельний and Канюк степовий.
