Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.
I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both Мартин середземноморський and Крячок рябодзьобий, Мартин скельний, Крячок каспійський, Баклан малий and Баклан великий, Мала біла чапля, Таміка віялохвоста), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.
Local eBird hotspot also mention Очеретянка середземноморська, Даурська ластівка, Пелікан кучерявий, Фламінго, Крячок малий, Серпокрилець блідий, Пісочник морський, Кульон середній, Коловодник звичайний, and Коловодник великий.
