Description
The Westpark is a good place for watching more common birds. The pond is home to many Крижень, some Каргарка нільська, Лиска звичайна and Водяна курочка. In the trees you can find Ополовник звичайний, або синиця довгохвоста, Підкоришник короткопалий, Повзик звичайний and Дятел звичайний. If you walk around the pond, it is possible to see almost all of the listed birds.
In the summer the park had a breeding pair of Казарка канадська. Sometimes a Чапля сіра flies and lands near the water. At least in the autumn there are some Баклан великий resting here. Рибалочка блакитний lives in the area, which you might be able to spot.

Access
The Westpark is located west of Aachen city center. The best way to get to the Westpark is by bike or by train (the closest train station is Aachen Schanz and only 10 minutes by feet). But if you want to come by car you can park on the Welkenrather Straße. Press P on the map for directions. The best way to explore the area is by feet.
