Description
The Salmenwiesen meadows are easily accessible and offer a good mix of birds all year round, especially at times when there is water on the meadows and in the ditches. When the meadows are flooded, a good number of birds use the meadows as a place to feed and rest. Гуска сіра, Казарка канадська, Чапля сіра, Водяна курочка, Крижень and Ворона чорна are nearly always present. At times they are joined by Лелека білий, Огар рудий and Чирянка мала.
During spring migration it is possible to see pairs or small groups of Трав'янка чорноголова and Жовта плиска. If you are lucky, you may see Баранець звичайний , Кобилочка-цвіркун or even a rarity such as a Чапля єгипетська! During spring and summer there is a good chance of observing Кропив’янка сіра, Сорокопуд терновий and Ластівка сільська. Birds of prey can also frequently be observed soaring over the meadows.
In winter, Щеврик лучний and Плиска біла are usually present and can be heard and seen foraging on the meadows and in the reeds.

Access
The Salmenwiesen are located 5 km south of the city of Karlsruhe. The site is best accessed on foot or by bike. There are a number of parking spaces nearby. Click on the P in the map for directions to a parking spot. The circular route indicated on the map is about 1,5 km.
